Inspired by a post on New Year's Day by Chris Brogan, that suggested refining your outlook for 2009 down to just three words, I selected: Inhale, Exhale and Focus. Already, in less than sixty days, I can see how it's developed into a template for the next three hundred plus days to come.
The sentences in quotations are the comments I made on Chris' blog and they're followed by thoughts that have evolved since then:
1. Inhale "Practice allowing Joy to rise within me as I breathe in and people and experiences exuding Joy will gravitate toward me." I want to meet and experience uplifting people and say "yes" more often. I seek inspiration.
2. Exhale "Whenever I exhale, Peace and calm spread throughout my body and consciousness and therefore into my environment." Breathing out gives me a sense of relief and freedom. In all that I do, I wish to bring the same to others. I hold good intentions.
3. Focus "When I focus on those qualities (Joy and Peace) as I inhale and exhale, everything else that I choose to focus upon meets no resistance, life flows." Focus is the work portion of my three-word-goal. Focus reminds me to breathe. Focus is the act of balancing between what comes in and what goes out. My inner, private life weighed against my outer, public life. Balancing is an active process. I will Focus and Look for Balance.
