December 15 – 5 Minutes. Imagine you will completely lose your memory of 2010 in five minutes. Set an alarm for five minutes and capture the things you most want to remember about 2010. (Author: Patti Digh)
My Response:
I want to remember:
...all the visitors I had to my home this year. Two of my brothers traveled far to spend too few nights. Two yoga teachers traveled even further and left me altered for the better. More family and friends brought laughter, love, and cheer. I don't want to forget a split second.
... the suspense and triumph of the Chilean miners' rescue.
...my Sunday walks with my son and daughter-in-law.
...my mother's fall, her broken elbow and her quick recovery. I want to always remember her triumph.
...my optometrist's expression when he told me that I no longer needed corrective lens to drive and his comment, "Your eyes are better than when I first saw you, 20 years ago!".
That'll do it.
I find it interesting that all that I want to hold on to are the emotions I felt during those experiences.
